Bench Officials

Bench officials are not required to be full NV members, however they are eligible for an Off the Court membership, this membership is for people who do not have a role on the court. It is an optional membership. Please click here https://vic.netball.com.au/netball-victoria-membership for a brief description of all NV Memberships.  We do have people who do not play the game but wish to support Netball Victoria by purchasing a membership, they will often purchase an Off the Court membership.  Membership for people who hold an off-court role is not compulsory. 

We have always required coaches and umpires to be full Netball Victoria members.  The Netball Victoria affiliation policy states the following:

9.6   All umpires and coaches must have a full membership (Senior/Junior/AA).  Full membership is required to be covered by professional indemnity insurance and to be eligible to participate or officiate in an Association or League competition or program (including NetSetGO).

9.7   All Committee members who do not hold a Senior, Junior or All Abilities membership may register as Off the Court members.  This membership is offered to those Association, League or Club members that have an administrative role, such as President, Secretary, or similar role, providing them coverage under the NA National Insurance Program.

In short, Management Liability covers, Club/Association’s Directors and Officers for a range of financial risks they may encounter in the performance of their role. This includes costs associated with legal action if sued for negligence, libel, slander, defamation or discrimination, costs associated with employment-related matters (unfair dismissal) and crime.
